So you own a product based business and you’re wondering how to effectively use Pinterest for marketing. Well, I have great news for you! Pinterest is a product based business owner’s dream marketing tool, but the strategy needs to focus on things other than just pinning graphics of the products you sell. Here are three components to include in your marketing strategy so Pinterest can work for your product based business.
1. Demonstrate How to Use Your Products
Idea Pins are great for demonstrating how to use your product because they allow for video (and you can put up to 20 slides in ONE Idea Pin)! You can create a tutorial on how a specific product could solve a pain point for potential customers. I always suggest starting the Idea Pin with a video because the motion will catch the Pinner’s eye if they’re scrolling through their home feed and your Pin is there. Then you could use subsequent slides for graphics or photos to continue showcasing the product as the hero that solves a problem.
2. SEO for Product Pins
Remember, Pinterest is a search engine. That means Pinners are using the search bar intentionally and their home feed shows them Pins related to their searches. This means you want to be as detailed as possible when using keywords in your Pin graphics, titles, and descriptions. Some keywords you might want to use include the colors, materials, and use of the product.
3. Always Make it Clear that The Products are Available for Purchase
Pinterest has always been a platform used for inspiration so it is important that your Pin graphics include wording that communicates that the products in the Pin are for sale. Shoppable graphics would include phrases like “shop now” or “get this look here” to really communicate that the Pinner can get this product from you and to prevent them from just saving the Pin for inspiration.
