3 Tips to Attract Your Ideal Client on Pinterest

Whether you are a service, product, or online based business, if you are not utilizing Pinterest for marketing, you are missing out on a huge opportunity to introduce your business to people who are in the market for what you’re offering.  Why is that? Because Pinterest is not social media, it is a visual search engine.  That means people on Pinterest are specifically searching for services and products they are ALREADY interested in purchasing! The HOW to use Pinterest to increase traffic to your website (therefore generating more leads and conversions) can seem confusing and overwhelming, but it doesn’t need to be. The answer is utilizing keywords on Pinterest strategically so that the people who are looking for your stuff can find it.  Here are three tips to attract your ideal client on Pinterest.

1. Get Clear on Who Your Ideal Client Is

There are over 475 million monthly Pinterest users with 40% of them having a household income of $100k+.  That’s a large audience with strong spending power and it is very likely your business’ target demographic is searching and scrolling through Pinterest. In order to reach your ideal client you need to make sure the content you’re putting on Pinterest speaks to their likes and dislikes, solves problems or pain points they’re experiencing, and more. Put yourself in their shoes and think about what your ideal client would be searching for on Pinterest and keep that in mind as you create content.

2. Keyword Research is a Non-Negotiable

Besides getting clear on who your ideal client is and what they’re in the market for, you have to do some research on what words they’re actually typing into the Pinterest search bar! There are TWO ways you can do this. First, you can log into Pinterest and start searching for the product or service you offer in the Pinterest search bar, other words or phrases will auto populate below what you’re typing. These are trending searches related to what you typed! Next, if you have a business Pinterest account (which you really should if you plan on using Pinterest for your business), you can create a campaign under ads in your business hub to research keywords related to your service or product.  When you search for keywords this way, Pinterest will display the number of monthly searches each keyword gets. I find it helpful to have a running document or spreadsheet where I track the keywords I plan to use for ease.

3. Use Those Keywords!

Once you have those keywords, you need to use them everywhere you can.  In your blog posts on your website (blog title, 2-3 times in the blog post body, the url slug, meta descriptions and image titles), in your Pins (in the graphics, titles and descriptions), and in your Pinterest board (titles/descriptions).
