Links to the good stuff!

According to my Google Analytics, Pinterest is the number one referrer to my website. Do you know what your number one referrer is? Do you want it to be Pinterest (aka is your ideal client part of a majority demographic using Pinterest every day)? Well here is what I am doing in 2024 to grow my Pinterest account and attract more business.

Pinterest has changed a lot in the last year. First, don’t feel obligated to pin 20+ times a day – it is more important to pin strategically (we’ll get into this more later in the blog). Second, sharing other people’s pins/content isn’t the way to grow your business. And lastly, Pinterest has streamlined your pinning options – there is now a single pin type (you can use a graphic, a video, or a combination of both) and every pin includes a link. These three key changes should feel encouraging! Utilizing Pinterest for your business marketing is more manageable and user friendly than ever before.

Utilizing Pinterest for Marketing isn’t going to be Instant Gratification or Overnight Success

I think it is important to caution you first… If you’re looking to pop off on Pinterest then this isn’t the platform for you. It takes time and lots of patience. Every account/business is different, but it takes AT LEAST THREE MONTHS of consistent and properly optimized pinning of fresh content to start seeing traction on Pinterest. So, step one is promising to commit yourself to trying Pinterest for at least three months before writing it off.

Keywords, Keywords, Keywords

Remember how I mentioned above that you have to be strategic in your pinning? Well, that is done through utilizing keywords. Remember Pinterest isn’t social media, it is a search engine and you need to treat it as such. Actually, Pinterest is the third most used search engine after Google and Youtube. So make sure you’re utilizing keywords in every pin graphic, title, and description!

Client Journey Matters

Make sure that your Pin links are relevant to the pin. You’ll lose potential client if your healthy dinner recipe pin is linked to a blog post about why walking is important! You also want to make sure that your pins link to ways that potential clients can reach out to you, purchase your products, or sign up for your offerings.

Analyze and Adapt Your Strategy

Review your analytics monthly and pivot your strategy as needed! If you need a refresher on understanding Pinterest analytics, you can read my blog post on it here. Remember, you need to convert your Pinterest account to a business account to have access to analytics. Your Pinterest strategy includes your business goals and implementing the practices outlined in this blog so adapt as necessary!

To summarize, make sure you’re consistent, strategic, and flexible to get the most out of utilizing Pinterest for business marketing in 2024. Here is a little more info on how to leverage Pinterest for your product based business, service based business, and online based business.

I’d love for you reach out with any questions you have or if you’re interested in having me manage your Pinterest business account for you via my contact form.
